launch the archived TKBGC site, using the Schema Framework
Boa Solutions is thrilled to be able to support charitable causes, often providing heavily subsidized IntelliFolios websites and photography, and complimentary strategic consulting for environmental and social change causes. In this case, TKBGC had a very outdated, dysfunctional site that was difficult to maintain and update. Boa created something that woudl be attractive for the kids, and usable for the parents, to access all the programs.
This project is an excellent example of the types of graphical customizations that can be done just by integrating animated Flash files into the graphical areas, instead of static jpegs.
Firstly, the site opens up with a high-imapct, low bandwidth, quick animation of the background, using the organization's national logo as the main element, starting "behind" the viewer, taking up the full-screen, and zooming into final position. Then some of the other elements animate in. This is just achieved with one Flash (.swf) file, without any custom Framework needed.
At the top of the site, is a rotation of quotes from excited parents that use the organization. On the side is an effective use of the Sidebar Extension feature, ideal for sponsors, news, or do advertise events or offers. In this case, an easy way to donate is key, and that button also shows how a simple Flash animated button can attract more attention, in a tasteful way, versus a static one.
A choice of image borders is a unique way of reinforcing the style of the site, and this is all done dynamically site-wide, without having to re-format images.
Doing an enlargeable screenshot of a GoogleMap is a great alternative to linking to it, especially with a younger, local audience that may not need driving directions. Of course, both can be done.
Expand Pages offer a great way to have a third-level navigation to access extensive information, in this case, Program Details.
For organizations that have visually exciting programs, especially those that have a young audience, extensive image galleries of events is an excellent way to draw in participants.
