Rich Text is the ability for the text to be formatted in a number of ways.  

 

These include:  

  • bullets
  • indent at beginning of each paragraph (this site shows both indented and unindented paragraphs, but normally, you would standardize one), or indent entire paragraph
  • automatic dynamic today's date insertion, used for keeping pages looking fresh which are always up-to-date.
  • exotic symbol insertion, such as currency symbols, trademark symbol, etc; font size;
  • any link type, which defaults to being in highlight text, with an underline.
  •  

    Rich text is supported in HTML Intro Pages, Article Pages, Grid Pages, Rollover Pages, Expand Pages, and in the description text of Gallery Media. The price is $2 for each occurrence of one combination of parameters in a continuous string of text, which can be any combination of the following: 

     

  • bold, italic, or underline or alternate text style with any of these active
  • main, highlight (good for links), or alternate text colors
  • Choose from sizes 6,7,8,9,10,11,12,14,16,18,20,24,28,32,36,40,48, or 72.
  • Size 14 is default. If you are doing small fonts, keep contrast highest, with black text on white background as teh most ideal. Conversely, the bigger the text, teh less contrast you need.
  • We recommend between size 10 to 24, depending on the type of site and font used. Because of how fonts are designed, they have a different degree of legibility even at the same size. Generally, squarer, simpler fonts with a decent line thickness tend to hold up better at smaller sizes. Handwriting or very stylized fonts tend to need the larger sizes for legibility.





  • Adding new still images to your web account is simple. Just make sure they are (ideally) at least 1024 pixels wide x 768 pixels high, with very light jpeg compression (quality 10/12) or 80%. If you are using Photoshop, use "save for web" with progressive OFF, and sRGB. But, if you're not sure how to do this, we can do that for you. You then give up the ability to custom-optimize each image for the right balance between small file size and quality, and uploads to us will take longer. 

     

    The way IntelliFolios works is that we upload this larger version (which we call "screen version") into your account, so it is easy for us to play around with different Framework options in your initial site build, and so you have the option of having your images pop up full-screen for anywhere in your IntelliFolios site. Unlike other systems, you have a wide variety of media sizes to choose from. 

     

    You can deliver your images to us on a CD / DVD / externel adrive, or keydrive, upload them through the Access Site (for up to 50mb), or through our upload link, which we can email to you. You will want to properly title your image files with their final image title, using spaces between words. It is a good idea to organize your images in folders that are named what you want the gallery or page name to be.  

     

    Then include a MS WORD-compatible text document which has the galleries or pages listed, in the order that they are supposed to appear in the site, and with each media, include title, with optional short caption and/or longer description. The description text can have Rich Text, links, etc, and you can indicate that by using the same type of formatting in your Word document. Show links by having them in blue text, underlined, but then have the actual link destination inside <....> like <http://www.linkdestination.com/pagename> or a description of what you want the link to do within the <....>. 

     

    A free "cropped" thumbnail can be done of each JPEG image (please request), by a trained designer, who will extract the most unique, interesting element of each image, so even though the thumbnail may be small, the image can easily be identified. It also has the benefit of creating a more abstract collection of thumbnails , especially important when the thumbnails are always visible, as they are in many of our Frameworks. You are welcome to submit a collection of your own cropped thumbnails, 72px by 72px, as long as they have exactly the same name as the full-crop image, but ending with "_sth.jpg". 

     

    Integrating each individual JPEG image or .SWF graphic (a.k.a. Media Objects) into the account is $15, or you can get 20 at a time for $200 ($10 ea) or 100 for $600 ($6 ea). Text formatting and linking within the description area is extra. The images can be used anywhere in the site. There is no extra per image charge to place them once into a Gallery Page, Graphics Page, or HTML Intro Page, but other pages or extra occurrences of the same link are $5 each.  






    Within IntelliFolios, there are a number of built-in methods for showing different states of items, requiring no additional graphics or animation production: 

     

    Using the Gallery Page section is ideal if there needs to be an explanation or specs with each state, which is easily accommodated via the description text area. Using the Gallery Page description text is the only way to have links and formatted text that changes for each item. The "auto-advance" feature in galleries makes it easy to just sit back and watch the whole sequence. Galleries typically offer the second-largest view possible, and is also a great choice when detailed examination is desired, as the individual stages can be popped up full-screen for close scrutiny. 

     

    Many of the more advanced Frameworks have an option to choose which transition style is used between all gallery images, which will often depend what you are using the sequence for. Fades, the default for the other page style image sequences, work great for showing before / after.  

     

    If you want the same text for every image, it is just copied into the description field for each one. Using galleries is great if you need the visitor to control the pace of each image being shown, or just to see certain stages, rather than the whole cycle. Think of this as "image first, text second". 

     

    Using Related Media in Gallery Pages creates the most comprehensive, viewer controlled solution for inter-related items, but can be overkill for many scenarios requiring a simple comparisons or sequences. Related Media is great for showing angles, colors, finishes, versions, etc. Related Media link titling is global throughout all galleries in the entire site. 

     

    Incorporating the Related Media links and gallery sequences adds a whole additional dimension of information to the project, so certain stages can off-shoot or be linked with others. The simpler way of using Related sequences it is that each image can have up to three additional word-linked versions or stages of a single image. Any of those stages can be expanded to an unlimited length sequence of media if needed. 

     

    The Slideshow Function in Article Page or Expand Page (like this page), with the "Cycling" option turned on, is ideal if you want the same, but often longer text, than Gallery Pages naturally accommodate to appear for all images. In using the Cycling method, a unique, short caption can be displayed for each stage. As with Gallery Pages, the neat thing is that any stage in the Cycle or Gallery can be clicked on, and a popup image will appear for closer examination and reference. Think "text first, image second". 

     

    The Rollover Function can be used in Article and Graphic Pages, as well as in the Sidebar Extension (often used for creating interactive buttons or announcements here). You specify the main image, and another image that is activated upon rollover. Often, it is the same image, with the same proportions, with just some changes. If you want the largest possible image size, use the Graphics Page. It is the simplest method to use, for both you and the site visitor, but is limited to just one alternate state. 

     

    Besides the cost of the page itself and the media, there is a $10 per media charge to link a rollover image.  

     

    These are some popular uses for the above functionality. When there are only two states required, rollovers work great. For multiple stages, slideshows or gallery sequences must be used: 

  • before / after enhancement
  • images with text overlays
  • rollovers are great for two stage animated buttons or announcements
  • demos of how something works or comes together / apart
  • different color(s)
  • option(s) added to product
  • other view(s)
  •  

    Custom Flash animations can be done at additional cost, creating complete pre-scripted or interactive animations, with zooming, panning, text overlays, special effects...essentially anything that can be animated in a website. Basic sequencing with some zooming is shown in the "imaging" section of the www.mirlada.com site.

    Here's how this incredible new concept works: 

     

    Related Media branch off existing media, creating a whole new level of visual information. Let's look at an architect site, for example. 

     

    Let's say that this architecture firm has 3 key areas that they design for: corporate, retail, and institutional. They may decide to feature their top 20 projects in each area. These 3 galleries may be accessed by a Rollover Page, with an iconic image representing each gallery. Clicking on this image takes the visitor to that gallery of 10 projects, each one shown as a thumbnail. 

     

    Clicking on that thumbnail loads the larger "reg" size of the image, and shows a title, and perhaps a caption and/or a description. If that project has Related Media, a word link will appear next to the image. Some Frameworks support up to 3 independent image relationships, the system maximum. Lets' say this client has all 3 active. 

     

    Related 1 is defined by this client as "exteriors", and that is what the word says. Clicking on it will change the existing gallery to a series of say 20 exteriors of that specific project. The viewer can navigate through these exactly the same way, with all the same features, as a regular gallery. The viewer (if these are enabled) can add images to their Selection, create PDF brochures of their favorite images, access them via Media or Text Search, etc. 

     

    Now let's say Related 2 is defined as "interiors", and Related 3 is "details". Switching to these collections of 20 additional imagery for each project is just one click away. In any of these Related galleries, going back to the normal gallery, and the image that started them on this trail, is just on click away, on the client-defined "back to gallery" type link. 

     

    So, in this case, we have 60 images, VR tours, Panoramas, plans, videos...whatever media you want, of each project. If we have 3 galleries of 20 projects each, and each project has 60 images that fully show it off, we are talking about easy, quick, unconfusing, not-overwhelming access to 3600 images! 

     

    Related Media can be thought of as a fourth-level navigation opportunity, and can make even the largest sites very manageable and accessible. 

     

    The $200 setup is per media relationship, so it could be $600 if you can use all 3. Furthermore, cross-linking imagery is $3 per set, but we can propagate links back and forth between media, so they become their own sets. It's a little difficult to explain quickly, but it will allow everything to be cross-linked by just linking one media to the others, instead of linking each one to all of them. 






    The SideBar Extension is a great way of extending the real estate of your site. It adds a vertical column of information to the right side of your site, extending the horizontal dimension by any number of pixels you specify. The service includes 2 revisions and a final version, and does not include any Media Objects, links, etc. Please keep screen size compatibility in mind when using theis feature, as the screen sensor doesn't take the extra width into account. An excellent choice for turning a more square Framework into a "widescreen" type of layout. 

     

    These are the options:
