Rosewood Estates - April 2008 

launch www.RosewoodWine.com site, using the Point Framework  

 

Rosewood Estates is a unique combination of winery and meadery (beekeepers), producing not only great wines, but also Mead, the ancient alcohol-based drink that was invented before wine, made of honey. As a first website for this new Niagara, Ontario winery, the objective was to get a website up asap, as they were about to do their grand launch, and just had a parked page.  

 

We were introduced through their graphic design firm, who was involved in creative decision-making, and supplied the graphical content. In providing the firm with an accurate guide file for the Flash framework, in both a flattened jpeg format, and a layered Photoshop file, as well as the width of the top banner graphic for the HTML version, they were easily able to create the georgeous graphics, which were instantly integrated into theIntelliFolios Frameworks to successfully reflect the Rosewood brand. The designer loved the fact that over a period of two days, she was able to work remotely and very efficiently, just Skyping with Boa during a real-time site build. 

 

It was decided to do a multi-stage site build of the Rosewood site, since much of the visual content was not ready, with much of it being just snapshots, while the more refined site is being built as a another layer. IntelliFolios makes it easy to work with concurrent versions of websites, easily having certain pages in draft mode, together with alternative versions for reference and future implementations, without creating any logistical problems or compromises in the process. 

 

Some other key points: 

 

  • Launch mode of the site is set to open in same window, without having to deal with popup blockers....creating the most universal compatibility. The simple design, along with the white on white background, makes this more feasible. The only downside will be not having as accurate of a figure of how long a visitor spent at the site, compared to having it pop-up.
  •  

  • The client wanted a simple, clean site that has a menu system that has both the primary and secondary menu shown at all times, for extreme usability, easily accomplished with the Point Framework. Point has a nice balance between showing this information, while keeping the menu discreet.
  •  

  • The custom launch page, again easily accomplished by the designers because of the IntelliFolios workflow, is a great opportunity to reinforce the brand. The top graphic can easily be swapped out by us, with a new graphic provided by the designers, to announce upcoming events, introduce new products, etc. The Manager, our IntelliFolios Content Management System, allows for this change to happen easily, while keeping all other resources in use, and having full "Intelligent Launch" features enabled.
  •  

  • The HTML version (several pages shown here in both the Flash and HTML version to allow direct comparison) is especially important for travellers accessing through small mobile device screens, on low-powered devices that may have a marginal web connection. This just shows that with a nice graphic on top, and a custom color set, even the HTML version can look great, and be hyper compatible with every standard web browsing device.
